A really unusual and rare piece from the late 1960s, these romantic trousers are tailored to a high-waist fit with flowing harem-cut legs and they may have been made repurposing earlier fabrics. Machine sewn from sheer silk chiffon, they are superbly hand-painted with purple and blue flowers and vibrant green leaves. They are fully lined with white satin, probably a viscose or acetate. The thick cuffs and wide waistband are cut from mint green satin patterned with pink and yellow florals. Both the cuffs and waistband fasten with large pearlescent buttons. The side of the trousers conceals a tonal zip.
These one-off trousers are in excellent vintage condition with some very slight wear to the fabric at the cuffs and buttonhole of the waistband - no stains, tears or holes noted which is remarkable given their age. The zip is probably a replacement. The trousers are unlabelled so please check our measurements below closely. The fabric does not have any stretch and we estimate these will best suit up to a UK 8, US 4.
